Marquis Antiprotozoal Oral Paste

Product performance that offers new hope:

  • Marquis Paste (15% w/w ponazuril) Antiprotozoal Oral Paste offers proven efficacy against EPM.
  • The active ingredient is ponazuril, an anticoccidial compound with cidal activity against Sarcocystis neurona , the protozoal parasite that causes equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM).
  • Ponazuril acts against the parasite at several stages of the life cycle.
  • Ponazuril crosses the blood/brain barrier to reach the central nervous system (CNS) where it kills the parasite.
  • In clinical efficacy trials conducted at equine referral clinics across the country, Marquis was proven effective at the recommended dose level.
  • Marquis Paste should effectively clear the horse of S. neurona , but may have no effect on irreparable, pre-existing CNS damage caused by the protozoal parasite prior to treatment.
  • The prognosis for animals treated for EPM may be dependent upon the severity of the disease and the duration of infection prior to treatment.
  • Early and accurate diagnosis followed by immediate treatment are critical for best clinical response.

Each tube will treat a 1200 lb. horse for 7 days. Usual course of treatment is 28 days
